Graveyard Keeper 2 launched September 22, 2026 and patched within hours — a good sign for how the developers intend to run the game. Two days later it received its first full patch, Update 1.005, the next evening its second, Update 1.006, on day seven Changelog 1.007 — its first changelog responding to the post-launch report wave — and on day ten Update 1.008 together with the developers’ first roadmap post, Plans for the future. Update 1.009, the fifth patch, followed on day fourteen, and on day twenty-one Update 1.010 became the sixth patch — and the first to ship one of the roadmap’s ten promises. This page tracks every official update plus the issues players are actually hitting, each entry sourced and dated. It is updated whenever a new announcement lands; last checked October 23, 2026 — three of the four official channels answered today: the news RSS feed returned the game’s ten most recent developer announcements, newest first, ending with the September 22 launch posts; the Steam Web API’s app-news endpoint returned twenty-nine items whose developer subset — the ones labelled “Community Announcements” — is exactly the same eighteen developer announcements this page has tracked since launch, with the other eleven being third-party reposts that are not developer announcements and do not belong on this timeline; and the community announcements hub independently served the four most recent developer posts — Update 1.010 (October 13), Changelog 1.009 (October 6), Plans for the future (October 2), and Update 1.008 (October 2) — matching the RSS feed’s top four exactly. The store’s own news hub page did not respond today, so the eighteen-announcement count came from the API’s developer subset rather than from that page. All three channels agree with the history this page has kept, and the newest developer announcement is still Update 1.010, October 13.

Update 1.005 — the first post-launch patch (September 24)
Announced September 24, 2026 at 12:59 UTC, two days after release. The changelog below follows the official announcement, condensed by section:
- Stations & morgue — fixed the Study Table locking up after inserting an item for Science, so research could no longer be started; the Crematorium getting stuck with a corpse on the table and becoming unusable; the “prepared” body/strap state on the Resurrection Table resetting after leaving and re-entering the morgue; resurrected zombies showing the wrong (pre-resurrection) animation when re-entering the morgue; and cases where zombies could not be resurrected even when quest and item requirements were met. PlayStation also gained the missing zombie-limit hint at the Resurrection Table.
- Building & zones — you can demolish buildings in the resurrection zone again.
- UI & HUD — quest navigation hints now hide properly during sleep/blackout; the alchemy recipe book’s selection highlight no longer overlaps a UI separator; the Inquisition Base UI no longer flickers when repeatedly interacting with locked objects.
- Combat & movement — fixed the player floating over stairs during combat.
- Balance — increased tree-log yield when sawing (more chunks per log); rebalanced Kiln and Furnace craft and fuel costs.
- Performance & stability — improved the heavy FPS drops at the top of the alchemy tower; cleared a batch of errors that showed up before the first sleep/save.
- Audio & visuals — the Keeper’s house oven no longer plays its “job done” sound on every entry when idle; fixed the incorrect wheat-bending animation when walking through crops (Switch).
- Zombie crafts — pending zombie crafts now show when the zombie’s skill level is too low, and craft-lock / wait-delivery icons behave correctly.
For the launch-week issue tracker below, two details matter: the changelog does not list a fix for the nun quest counter or for the oven ingredient loop (though its zombie-craft signaling changes touch neighboring systems), and the resurrection fixes confirm that failed zombie resurrections were a real, acknowledged bug — not user error.
Update 1.006 — the second post-launch patch (September 25)
Announced September 25, 2026 at 17:16 UTC, one day after Update 1.005. The changelog below follows the official announcement, condensed by section:
- New features — an in-game bug report function for the Steam PC build, so broken behavior can be reported without leaving the game.
- Zombies, stations & cooking — zombies now earn red tech-points in fights; zombie work sounds play correctly when work starts while you are off-scene; a zombie placed at the cooking oven no longer blocks the millstone; kitchen zombies no longer consume or burn ingredients without producing the dish; fixed getting stuck between the kitchen chest and firewood, and getting wedged between workstations, chests, and extensions when pushed by a zombie.
- Inventory, trading & economy — extra bag slots now work for pickups and vendor buys when the backpack is full; static-price trade goods keep their fixed price (no more price doubling on the first buy).
- UI, graphics & cinematics — changing resolution no longer breaks grass sway and deformation; restored missing cinematic VFX (smoke and fog) in shipping builds.
- Audio — flagpole plant and remove sounds no longer play incorrectly at fight start and end.
- Progression & achievements — demo-save milestones now unlock Steam achievements retroactively in the full game; players can no longer destroy Defender’s Emblems and soft-lock zombie squad unlocks.
- Other — fixed intermittent crashes on ultrawide and non-standard resolutions; fixed crop beds getting permanently stuck just before harvest (unable to inspect, harvest, or remove the bed).
For the issue tracker below, this is the patch that clears entries: the oven ingredient-consumption loop players reported on September 24 matches the kitchen-zombie fix line for line, and the retroactive demo-save achievements answer the players who carried saves over without their early unlocks. The nun quest counter is still not named in any changelog.
Changelog — 1.007 (September 28)
Announced September 28, 2026 at 19:59 UTC, three days after Update 1.006. The official post opens by acknowledging “a huge number of your reports, suggestions, and requests” and closes with the first patch post titled plainly “Changelog” rather than “Update … is live” — the format has shifted from feature announcements to a running fix log. The changelog below follows the official announcement, condensed by section:
- Crashes — fixed repeated exception/error pop-ups that could break the session, and a crash when a zombie caretaker tried to pick items up from inventory.
- General — your zombies now earn red tech points for winning fights; fixed getting stuck on the pier stairs, on a hatch with a workbench placed on it, and between workstations, chests, and extensions when pushed by a moving zombie; cleaned up collision issues in the first part of Town.
- Exploits, inventory & items — fixed item-duplication exploits, including bag-to-bag transfers and alchemy/farmer bag abuse; dynamite can now be destroyed or sold.
- Crafting & workstations — fixed the study table not awarding science points and some items being unstudiable; fixed the potter’s wheel getting stuck on Craft (and unable to be destroyed); fixed being unable to obtain polished stone; fixed the Tempering Expert perk so it correctly grants its Mastery bonus and unlocks Master Armor/sword crafting.
- Farming — fixed being unable to harvest the bush near the factory entrance, and the player’s head disappearing while planting.
- Graphics & UI — clay storage no longer looks empty when more than half full; fixed mixed-up draw layers on the conveyor supplier station; removed unnecessary +/− buttons for Repair Kit quantity when repairing the Vineyard Bridge; fixed placeholder text showing instead of the character name “Jully”.
- Performance — fixed severe FPS drops (down to ~2 FPS) when saving.
- Quests, progression & balance — fixed a translation error that blocked quest completion; restored the missing description for the “Inflation” quest; fixed the game-breaking Central Districts Purge: Part I & II progression issue; fixed the PR machine not working; fixed iron supply delivery quests getting stuck; Jack now correctly receives the tools he asks for; rebalanced self-study books.
For the issue tracker below, two reads matter. First, the nun quest counter is still not named — no changelog has fixed it yet, so the start-the-quest-first advice stands. Second, the PR machine fix answers the launch-week complaint thread about zombie PR assignments being “anti-fun” only in part: the changelog line fixes a machine that was not working, not the faith-cost design players criticized, and the self-study-book rebalance is the only balance change listed.
Update 1.008 — the fourth patch and the first balance pass (October 2)
Announced October 2, 2026 at 13:48 UTC, four days after Changelog 1.007. The changelog below follows the official announcement, condensed by section:
- Crashes — fixed a crash when going to bed that could throw the player out of bounds, saves loading into an infinite screen (a conveyor-related exception), and persistent error/exception pop-ups that kept coming back.
- Softlocks & collisions — cleaned up a collision on the right side of the workyard and clipping/stuck spots in the Town Warehouse and vine cellar.
- Combat & exploits — Fast Travel Points can no longer be used during battle; fixed the zombie Panic debuff not triggering when over the zombie cap; removed placeholder text that appeared over fights.
- Zombies, farming & stations — fixed a zombie stuck on the firewood holder, wheat visually following the player while farmers failed to produce, and conflicting interaction hints when carrying a zombie near the carousel.
- Inventory & items — items (compost and similar) no longer “teleport” into the inventory from a distance when space frees up.
- Crafting, perks & progression — fixed the Sommelier perk so it actually boosts wine crafting; corrected the distiller craft tooltip; and — following 1.007’s PR machine fix — fixed the PR machine lasting less time than stated (both its progress bar and its duration).
- Graphics & UI — clay storage no longer looks half-empty when it is more than half full, an invisible bush no longer gets trimmed after reclaiming the town, the Alchemy folio and tutorial windows got spacing fixes, the study table resizes for long item names, the study-complete window’s Close button works, and save slots now show current happiness instead of outdated villager data.
- Quests & progression — fixed the Inflation/mercenary quest error that blocked progress and left a garden plot locked, and fixed a main-questline soft-lock when completing Linda’s Ball before the Plague Doctor’s Beautiful Dream (basement access / plague-doctor progression).
- Balance — the likes economy — deliveries now earn more likes while requiring fewer crates; the “Happy Supplier” perk bonus went up; vendor trading earns more likes in general and more for trading a specific item; and winning battles earns more Town Gratitude.
For the issue tracker below, three reads matter. First, the nun quest counter is still not named — 1.008 fixed two other quest blockers (Inflation/mercenary and the Linda’s Ball soft-lock) but not this one, so the start-the-quest-first advice stands. Second, the PR machine duration fix is a direct follow-up to 1.007: the machine works now, and it lasts as long as the game says it does. Third, the balance section is the first changelog response to the grind feedback wave — the developers had already acknowledged in public threads that delivery requirements felt like chores, and this patch pays out more likes for less hauling. The roadmap post that followed the same afternoon doubles down on it.
Plans for the future — the first roadmap (October 2)
Posted October 2, 2026 at 15:34 UTC, under two hours after Update 1.008. This is not a patch — it is the developers’ first post-launch roadmap, and it opens by conceding the point players kept making: “Some of the tasks in Graveyard Keeper 2 have become chores, and this is not something we want to see in the game ourselves.” Ten named improvements are confirmed in development, quoted from the post:
- More gears from zombies for conveyor belts, with and without the perk.
- More faith granted by sermons.
- Already-constructed workstations will become movable.
- Zombie-helpers will gather crafted resources and restart crafts in Kilns and Furnaces.
- Zombie-farmers will collect Peat and start new crafts at Compost Heaps.
- The Panic Reduction system will be reworked.
- Order slots will increase with the Town’s population. — Shipped in Update 1.010 (October 13): “Order slots count now rise up to 5 depending on villagers count.” The changelog supplies the specifics the roadmap post lacked: the ceiling is 5 slots.
- Trader upgrades will be rebalanced and simplified.
- Hypno-devices will be rechargeable through the Astrologer.
- Cremation for zombies will be implemented.
Two framing notes. One of the ten has now shipped: Update 1.010 (October 13) delivered item 7, order slots scaling with population, capped at 5 — the roadmap’s first promise to reach a shipped changelog. Update 1.010’s “zombies now give more gears with Belt Master perk” line is roadmap-adjacent but not item 1: that promise covers more gears “with and without the perk,” and the shipped line names only the perk. The other nine are still plans, not patch notes — an item moves a mechanics page only when a shipped changelog or a re-verified build says it landed, which is exactly what just happened with item 7. And Update 1.008’s post said it was “for PC” — a reminder that console builds can lag: Update 1.006’s in-game bug reporter was likewise announced for the Steam PC build specifically, while the game itself shipped day-one on all platforms.
Update 1.009 — the fifth patch (October 6)
Announced October 6, 2026 at 09:17 UTC, four days after Update 1.008 and the roadmap post. Unlike 1.008, this is a pure fix list — no balance changes — and it carries no “for PC” qualifier in the post itself. The changelog below follows the official announcement, condensed by section:
- Crashes & error pop-ups — fixed a crash that could happen while loading a save, error pop-ups when a gardener zombie tried to harvest a crop that was already gone, and a freeze when assigning a zombie to a station whose previous worker was no longer valid.
- General fixes — the player or HUD no longer stays locked after returning to the main menu or starting a new game (including a cinematic or a fight that never cleared); the day now rolls over when the clock lands exactly on the end of the day — this showed up as a day jump in the quests UI after a sermon; scenes are slightly expanded so they are no longer cut off on widescreen monitors.
- Softlocks & collisions — fixed getting stuck after upgrading the nun’s base: you are moved clear of the building when the upgrade finishes; cleaned up collisions on conveyor storage, the crematorium, the resurrection table, and the garden and vineyard assistant stations, so the box carried overhead no longer blocks movement; fixed the interaction point on the locked tower gate and sawhorse items dropping in the wrong place.
- Zombies, farming & stations — you can pick up or inspect a caretaker from their station while they are out working; caretakers no longer get stuck on quarry objects; zombies at the sawmill, mine, clay pit, and sand pit no longer get stuck after carrying the result back, so the next job can start; gardener zombies return to the station on a broken harvest, and a harvest that keeps failing is left for you.
- Inventory & items — bait stored in bags is now found when you fish; fixed gamepad navigation skipping inventories in the storage window when a bag is open.
- Crafting, perks & progression — fixed the Son of a Butcher perk so its bonus applies to organ surgery and pocket extraction; fixed the pre-order Sauna bonus permanently reducing the energy food restores after the buff expired, with existing saves corrected; the tier-2 kitchen oven no longer appears in the tech tree until the oven is repaired (existing saves corrected); fixed the study table starting the wrong survey for grape juice and grape wine; craft tooltips no longer list an already-attached station extension.
- Graphics, UI & quests — fixed crows stuck in a looking animation and the woodpecker’s broken peck animation, misplaced garden-bed icons, and missing Chinese icons on the HUD; updated the credits; fixed the sermon ending incorrectly; corrected several translations (Russian names of the eastern sluice-gate battles, Chinese wording for the PR activity, some Korean dialogue).
For the issue tracker below, two reads matter. First, the nun quest counter is still not named — 1.009 fixed a different nun problem, the soft-lock when upgrading her base, but not the choir counter, so the start-the-quest-first advice stands. Second, the pre-order Sauna fix is the first changelog to document a gameplay effect for a pre-order bonus — a temporary buff to the energy food restores — which the price page now reflects: the sauna is more than cosmetic.
Update 1.010 — the sixth patch and the first roadmap delivery (October 13)
Announced October 13, 2026 at 15:01 UTC, seven days after Update 1.009 and eleven days after the roadmap post. Unlike 1.009’s pure fix list, this one carries two actual gameplay changes — and one of them is the roadmap’s first delivered promise. The changelog below follows the official announcement, condensed by section:
- Quests & progression — fixed the banner that could not be placed in Central Districts Purge: Part II (a follow-up in the quest family that 1.007’s progression fix addressed); fixed Jack missing when submitting the bronze tools, and NPC Jack missing from the Twins’ land near the boat during the Village Boat event; fixed the glitched door to the Doctor’s basement; fixed some inspirations requiring more actions than the world allows, issues with town-related inspirations, and the Dry Cleaning and Surgeon’s Error inspirations; fixed NPCs all showing “…” above their heads.
- Softlocks & getting stuck — the widest sweep yet: fixed the Keeper getting stuck behind or in the bed after loading a save, stuck in the dungeon after entering from the Town Warehouse, sinking into the ground after leaving the Town Warehouse upper floor, stuck behind pottery during the sewer fight, trapped after soldiers spawn, trapped after building a crypt, stuck between the church fence and a grave, falling through the world when teleporting to the Floating Village, stuck at the barricaded passages at the morgue and the underground well, stuck behind bushes near Jack’s Bridge and in the fruit garden, and walking through a wall when entering with Gunther; fixed getting stuck in spots that look passable and being boxed in by pulled-in or floor items.
- Zombies & workers — zombies now give more gears with the Belt Master perk (roadmap-adjacent, see below); fixed the zombie porter walking through factory walls.
- Gameplay — order slots now rise up to 5 depending on the villager count — roadmap item 7, shipped; fixed wood disappearing from the player’s hands, being able to plant onion seeds in vineyard plots, the morgue counter staying at 1/19 with no corpses present, items not being picked up after inventory space was freed, and overhead items not hiding while using the pre-order sauna.
- Stability — fixed a consistent crash during Battle Operation Potato Part I and the game hanging on exit after long play sessions.
- UI & visuals — fixed controller issues in gameplay and the garden-bed UI, Builder’s Bag items becoming inaccessible with a controller, the bug report button not being localized, tutorial windows not resizing to fit their text, the Keeper’s arms staying raised, conveyor zone extension animations, and an NPC clipping into a table at the port tavern.
For the issue tracker below, three reads matter. First, the first roadmap promise is delivered: item 7, “order slots will increase with the Town’s population,” ships here as a 5-slot cap scaling with villagers — the roadmap section above is updated to match, and the site’s mechanics pages never stated a slot count, so nothing else needed to change. Second, the nun quest counter is still not named — 1.010’s quest fixes touch Central Districts Purge, Jack, the Doctor’s basement, and inspirations, but no nun line — so the start-the-quest-first advice stands. Third, the zombie-gears line covers only the with-perk half of roadmap item 1 (“with and without the perk”); treat it as a step in that direction, not the promise fulfilled. The changelog also fixed the morgue counter stuck at 1/19 with no corpses present — a display bug in the same system as the answered bodies-delivery entry below, but not that mechanic.

Known launch-week issues
All entries below are community-reported with links to their threads; status is being re-checked as patches land. “Answered” means the community or developers have a working explanation, not that the bug is fixed; “fixed in Update N” means an official changelog names it, and the entry stays up for the record.
Bugged quest counter — “And the nun can read too”
Reported September 24: a player who assembled the full five-zombie choir before starting the nun’s reading quest found the quest no longer counting progress. A second, independent report (in Russian) describes the same state — choir built, five zombies placed, no quest-hand-in dialogue. A third report (Russian, September 28) hits the same wall with a choir built before the quest — restarting and save-editing did not help; a community reply suggests placing a zombie in the choir and preaching again, which is an unverified workaround, not a fix. Three reports across two languages make a pattern, not a coincidence; watch quest order here until patched. Updates 1.006 (September 25), 1.007 (September 28), 1.008 (October 2), 1.009 (October 6), and 1.010 (October 13) do not name this quest either — no changelog has fixed it yet, so the safest play remains starting the reading quest before assembling the choir. Status: open, re-checked as patches land.
Bodies stop arriving at the morgue — answered
Reported September 24: bodies stopped delivering for two in-game weeks. The community answer: the donkey stops delivering while your morgue is full — clear slab space and the deliveries resume. See bodies and the morgue for the full pipeline.
Zombie helper loops on the oven — fixed in Update 1.006
Reported September 24: a zombie assigned to the oven keeps taking ingredients without completing the dish. One reply asks whether the zombie’s skill level meets the recipe — if it does and the loop persists, it is a bug; the reporter confirms skills were sufficient and the oven kept consuming. Update 1.005 (September 24) touched neighboring signaling but did not name the loop. Update 1.006 (September 25) fixed it explicitly: “Kitchen zombies no longer consume or burn ingredients without producing the dish.” If you still see the loop after updating, report it in game — Update 1.006 added a built-in bug reporter to the Steam PC build.
Blank tech tree entries — actually progression-gated — answered
Asked September 24: zombie-mining and related techs look blank or missing in the tree. The answer: they unlock for research only after you clear the path from your base through the factory to the mine. Full chain in the iron guide.
Stuck asking the characters for help — the 90-happiness wall — being verified
Reported October 1: a player reaching the “ask for help from all the characters” step found every character stuck at 90 happiness after finishing their pair quests, with dialogue advancing nothing. A second player in the same thread reports the same wall. A community reply offers an explanation rather than a fix: the step wants a sermon for an Old God, requiring church quality and popularity of at least 180 — unverified on this site, so treat it as a lead, not a confirmed answer. Two players hitting the same state makes it a pattern to watch; no changelog through Update 1.010 (October 13) has named it.
The AI-content question — officially answered
Launch-week Steam threads debated whether the game’s assets are AI-generated. The developers’ official FAQ thread, updated September 23, states it directly: “Graveyard Keeper 2 does not have AI-generated content.” That is the official position this site reports — the full breakdown of the debate lives on the AI claims page.
