Is Graveyard Keeper 2 Multiplayer? Co-op Explained

Short answer: no. Graveyard Keeper 2 is a single-player game on every platform — PC (Steam, Epic, GOG), PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch / Switch 2 all list one-player support and nothing else.

What the official listings say

The Steam page lists exactly one mode: Single-player. The PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo store pages match, each showing one-player support. No online mode, no couch co-op, no split-screen, and no cross-platform anything — with a single-player design, there is also no cross-save to think about. Developer Lazy Bear Games has not announced plans to change this at any point.

That is consistent with the studio’s design philosophy: the first Graveyard Keeper shipped single-player in 2018 and stayed that way through all of its DLC.

The community really does keep asking

Worth knowing if you are hoping otherwise: multiplayer is one of the most requested features. Steam community threads have asked the developers directly whether co-op could be added, and the reveal Reddit threads filled with the same question. The standard answer from the community itself is that the game “was not made to be played co-op” — the same thing players of the first game said for years.

The first game’s multiplayer mod (PC only)

There is one important precedent. The original Graveyard Keeper eventually got an unofficial multiplayer mod on Nexus Mods — a two-player world-sharing hack for the PC version built by modders, not the studio. If history rhymes, the sequel’s PC version (the only platform with realistic modding) is where any unofficial co-op would eventually appear. Nothing of the kind exists yet, and mod support for the sequel is itself unconfirmed.

So who is this game for?

If you were hoping to run a graveyard with a friend, this launch is not it — the four gameplay pillars (graveyard management, zombie automation, undead-army defense, town restoration) are all built around one player’s decisions. As a solo experience it launches September 22, 2026; if you want a taste of the tone first, there is no demo, but the first game is an inexpensive proxy.
